SUDATA
UTILITY
(SVDATA
as of Version 3.40)
There is a very handy utility
in MAS90 called SUDATA. This program allows you to copy data files from one company to
another while you are in MAS90. In technical support, we find the SUDATA utility helpful
for making backups prior to rebuilding any files or if you need to create a test company
to try out a transaction before posting it to your live data.
The SUDATA is a helpful tool, but it should
only be used to supplement your normal backup routine. It should NEVER
be used in place of your normal backups. The data is stored on the hard drive where MAS90
is located, so if you encounter problems with your hard drive, you will need an external
backup to perform a restore. It is also important to understand that the SUDATA backup
only stores the selected company data. It does not backup any of the MAS90 system control
files which are sometimes necessary in a restore situation.
Before executing the SUDATA program:
To perform the SUDATA in MAS90 for Windows, go
to File, then Run. At program name, type in SUDATA and click on OK. In MAS90 Level 3 for
DOS, type ^SUDATA (shift,6 SUDATA) at the bottom of any menu next to "Enter Your
Option".
You will now be at a MAS90 DOS screen. The
cursor will be in brackets asking for the Source Data. Type in the two letters of the
module you wish to back up along with the three letter company code as outlined above
(i.e. APABC). Hit enter and the cursor will move to the next bracket. Keep entering the
abbreviations for modules along with the company code you wish to back up. Be sure
to only back up data from one company at a time.
When you have completed entering all modules
you wish to backup, enter through the blank bracket. The cursor will now be in the
Destination Company bracket. Type in the three letter code for the new company you created
and hit enter. DO NOT ENTER A COMPANY CODE THAT ALREADY HAS DATA UNLESS YOU WANT
THE INFORMATION TO BE OVERWRITTEN. MAS90 will prompt you to verify the entries
and enter Y if correct. If you need to make changes, enter No. When the SUDATA has
completed, the cursor will appear in the Source Data Bracket. Hit the ESC key to exit.
To verify the data copied successfully, change
to the new company code and look up the data in the modules you selected.
*NOTE: These instructions
presume that you have a working knowledge of MAS90 and a clear understanding of the
company structures. It is essential that you understand the above instructions prior to
executing the SUDATA program. Accuvar assumes no responsibility for any data loss or
downtime caused by performing the SUDATA program.
